Deep work by Cal Newport
“Deep work is professional activities performed in a state of distraction-free concentration that push your cognitive capabilities to their limit. These efforts create new value, improve your skill, and are hard to replicate.”
Our economy has changed to a fast-paced and complex system. We need to learn complicated things quickly, create the best results, or be replaced as soon as possible. Therefore, “deep work” is required.
This book consists of two parts. In the first part, Newport shows us what deep work is and why it is important to us. Then he shows us different strategies to cooperate deep work into our life.
We have too many distractions in our everyday life. Our brain gets used to all these distractions, and we can’t control our intensity of attention. But we can increase our resistance to distractions with deliberate practice. We need to control how we spend our time to achieve our professional or personal goals instead of surrender ourselves to shallow or easy works completely.
Let’s spend our time and energy on things that really matter to us! Say no to kinds of stuff that have no positive effect on our life. Stop complaining about you don’t know why things are not getting better without a constructive reflection first.
